Pricing

Every price we charge in Sunnyvale, published.

Every job is priced from the list below, including the access work most locksmiths quote instead of pricing. Say which opening it is and the figure is settled on the call, with the after-hours hour already inside it. The ranges below are what these jobs cost between the hills and the shoreline; the call turns a range into one figure, with the unit it is counted in.

Inside the range

Three questions that close a range down to a figure

The same job costs one thing on a 1961 tract door and another on a hillside house built forty years later, so the page carries ranges. Three things close a range down to a figure.

Which tract the door came from

A 1957 street in Sun Terrace, a 1963 street off Ygnacio Valley Road and a 1968 street out past Willow Pass were each fitted from one builder order, so the bore, the backset and the strike are known from the address alone. Naming the street is usually enough to close most of the range before anything else is asked.

What has changed since

Almost every one of these doors picked up a second lock later, and that one is the variable: a different backset, a strike screwed into trim instead of the stud, a filled hole under the plate, sometimes a whole slab replaced in the nineties. It is the one thing worth describing on the call.

Which hour

A call after 8pm carries $40 of the evening inside it, and one after midnight carries $75. The figure you hear is already that hour's figure, not a daytime price with a line added, and weekends and holidays run at weekday rates.

What is never added

No mileage out to Clayton Valley or down to Pacheco, no fee for a side gate or a second door, no line for a second attempt, and drilling never costs more than opening it cleanly would have. If the plan changes at the door, it changes with your yes, at the same figure.

FAQ

What people ask about the bill

Do you actually work gates, lobby readers and fobs, or only keys?+

Both, and the access side is the bigger half of the week here. Gate operators and loop detectors, call boxes, keypads, lobby fob readers, maglocks, electric strikes, request-to-exit sensors, elevator floor restriction, garage clickers, and enrolling or removing fobs as people move in and out. It is priced like any other job at $149 to $429 with the $89 visit inside that, rather than sent away for a quote. The van carries reader stock, gate boards, strikes and blank fobs alongside cylinders and pins, because on these streets the thing that stopped you is as likely to be electric as mechanical.

Do nights, weekends and holidays cost more?+

Saturday, Sunday and holidays cost what a Wednesday afternoon costs. Only the clock changes anything: $50 between 8pm and midnight, $85 between midnight and 7am. Both are folded in before you hear a figure, so nothing appears later. A house lockout that is $125 in daylight comes back as $175 at eleven at night and $210 at four in the morning, all of it still inside the published range of $125 to $219. Given how many people here work swings and red-eyes, the late call is treated as the normal call it is.

A tenant moved out and still has a working fob. Can you take it off the system?+

Yes, and it is worth doing the day the keys come back rather than the month the audit happens. A fob is a credential in a panel, not a key, so removing it takes the panel and the authority to use it, which means a manager, an owner or the HOA. What comes back is a list of what is live and what was removed, unit by unit, so the record is not just in someone's memory. The same visit can enroll the incoming resident, add or drop an elevator floor, and set the parcel room and amenity rooms to match. That work sits in the $149 to $429 band with the visit inside it.

24/7 — nights, weekends & holidays

Say which opening stopped you, hear the figure, and get through it

Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Alviso, 24/7, holidays included. A gate, a lobby reader, a fob, a unit door, a shop front, a car or a safe: one figure comes back with the $89 visit and the hour already inside it. Your own door and your own fob are yours to arrange; a shared opening takes a word from the manager or the HOA, and that gets sorted while you are still on the phone.
