Sixteen jobs we run across Sunnyvale, each with a published range
Every job is priced from the list below, including the access work most locksmiths quote instead of pricing. Say which opening it is and the figure is settled on the call, with the after-hours hour already inside it.

Emergency Locksmith
A unit door on the fourth floor off Fair Oaks Avenue that latched while somebody carried recycling down the hall. A ranch house in Ponderosa where the only key went into a jacket pocket that left for work. A restaurant on Murphy Avenue where the back cylinder turned halfway and stopped with the closing crew inside. Cars at the Caltrain lot, in the mall structures and in the office garages along Java Drive. The mechanism is opened without damage wherever it allows, so it is still the working lock in the morning. Two limits worth knowing before you call: your own unit door and your own fob are yours to arrange, while a gate or a lobby that has failed is a repair the manager or the on-call number has to authorize, and a door that has been kicked gets the jamb, the strike and the cylinder put back on the same visit with the work described for whoever files it.
Emergency overviewHouse Lockout
$125–$219Unit doors, front doors, patio sliders and side gates onto a driveway, opened without damage. $125 to $219, the $89 visit already counted inside it.
Car Lockout
$105–$199Keys shut in the car at the Caltrain lot, in a mall structure, in an office garage off Java Drive or at the curb by Ortega Park. Nothing marked on the paint or the seal. $105 to $199.
Business Lockout
$139–$249Shops, kitchens, stockrooms, labs and yard buildings opened once a lease, a badge or a manager settles who you are. $139 to $249.
Post Break-In Lock Repair
$175–$429A split jamb rebuilt through to the stud, a long strike, a fresh cylinder, and a reader or strike put back on its circuit, all in one visit and described for an insurer. $175 to $429.

Residential Locksmith
Cherry Chase, Ponderosa and the bird streets went up in the fifties and sixties on the curves where the orchards were, and a great deal of that original hardware is still hanging: builder knob sets, thin bolts, strikes screwed into trim, side gates onto the driveway, a garage door nobody has rekeyed since the second owner. Those doors get repinned rather than replaced whenever the cylinder still has life in it, and a whole house comes back as one figure with the visit inside it. On the apartment side the work is the unit door itself, the keypad lock a building will allow, and the safe in the closet that came with the place. The part going on is named before it goes on.
Residential overviewLock Rekeying
$28–$45 per cylinderThe lock stays on the door and takes new pins, which retires every key already out there. $28 to $45 per cylinder, and a whole house comes back as one figure with the visit inside it.
Lock Replacement & Installation
$125–$315Deadbolts, knob sets and levers fitted to the bore already in the door, including fifties hardware that has finally worn past repinning. $125 to $315.
Smart Lock Installation
$189–$469A keypad or app lock set into the existing bore and coded for the household, the cleaner and whoever waters the plants. In a rental, the building has to allow it first. $189 to $469.
Safe Opening
$195–$519A safe worked open by feel where it stands, whether the combination is gone or the bolts have jammed, then set to a number you choose. $195 to $519.

Commercial Locksmith
This is the flagship work here. Street gates and call boxes at the apartment blocks along Wolfe Road, lobby readers and maglocks in the Java Drive buildings, request-to-exit sensors that stopped releasing, elevator floor restriction, garage clickers, and fob enrollment when someone moves in and de-enrollment when they hand back the keys, all of it $149 to $429 rather than a quote you wait three days for. Alongside it: brick shopfronts and restaurant back doors in the Heritage District, aluminum glass fronts along El Camino Real with hookbolts that no longer throw, exit devices in kitchens and warehouse man-doors, and master key systems for buildings that get walked and counted first. Anything on a shared opening is ordered by the manager, the owner or the HOA, and that gets settled on the call rather than in a hallway.
Commercial overviewMaster Key Systems
custom quoteOne key sitting over a key for every door, for a fourplex on El Camino Real or 240 units at Moffett Park. Walked and counted on site, then quoted as one figure.
Panic Bars & Exit Devices
$299–$769Push bars and exit devices for shops, kitchens and warehouse doors, fitted, rebuilt or brought back into line so the latch lands instead of scraping. $299 to $769 per door.
Access Control
$149–$429Street gates and operators, call boxes, keypads, lobby fob readers, maglocks, request-to-exit sensors, elevator floor restriction, garage clickers, and fob enrollment or de-enrollment when a tenant arrives or leaves. Priced on the call at $149 to $429, not sent off for a quote. Shared openings are ordered by the manager, the owner or the HOA.
Storefront Door Locks
$165–$469Aluminum glass doors along El Camino Real and in the Heritage District: hookbolts that will not throw, tired deadlatches, worn cylinders, closers that slam. $165 to $469.

Automotive Locksmith
The Sunnyvale Caltrain lot, the mall structures, the office garages off Java Drive and Mathilda Avenue, the flat streets around Ortega Park and Las Palmas Park, a carport behind a fourplex on El Camino Real. Photo ID and the registration are matched to the plate before a blank goes near the machine. Nothing is packed up until the engine has fired twice on the new key and the doors lock and unlock with it, and a lost key can be dropped out of the vehicle memory when you want that done. One practical note for the garages: a gated structure needs somebody who can get the van through, so say on the call whether that is you, the building or an attendant.
Automotive overviewCar Key Replacement
$159–$399A key cut and coded in the parking space the car is sitting in, spare included, even when the last key is gone. $159 to $399, registration checked first.
Key Fob Programming
$89–$195A vehicle remote or proximity fob paired without moving the car anywhere. $89 to $195, and the floor there is the visit itself.
Ignition Repair
$185–$439A cylinder that will not turn, or turns and leaves the dash dead, rebuilt or swapped at the curb. $185 to $439.
Motorcycle Keys
$119–$279Bikes and scooters, blade cut and chip coded where the machine is parked. $119 to $279.

Say which opening stopped you, hear the figure, and get through it
Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Alviso, 24/7, holidays included. A gate, a lobby reader, a fob, a unit door, a shop front, a car or a safe: one figure comes back with the $89 visit and the hour already inside it. Your own door and your own fob are yours to arrange; a shared opening takes a word from the manager or the HOA, and that gets sorted while you are still on the phone.
